ギリシャ中央マケドニア地方におけるウエストナイルウイルス感染の発生（一般旅行者向け）

ギリシャの保健当局はギリシャ本土でのWNV感染症のアウトブレイクを確認しました。2010年8月11日の時点で、中央マケドニア（Central Macedonia）地方で21例が確定診断されました。死亡例が2例あり、1例は地方都のテッサロニキ市（Thessaloniki）での症例でした。ギリシャではこれまで、動物でWNVは検出されていましたが、人での症例報告はこれが初めてです。

WNVはフラビウイルス（flavivirus）によって起こります。このウイルスの一次宿主はトリやウマで、イエカ属の蚊によって媒介されます。WNVは南ヨーロッパ地域で見られるようになった新興感染症です。1966年以降、EU連合では、ごく少数のヒト症例が報告されていました。大多数のWNV感染症、およそ80％は無症状です。20％未満が発熱、頭痛、筋肉痛、発疹をともなう、軽症の自然回復する疾患をきたします。1％未満の症例が、より重症の髄膜炎あるいは脳炎などの中枢神経症状を呈します。

ギリシャへの旅行、あるいはその他のヨーロッパ地域の旅行に際してWNVに感染するリスクは非常に低いと考えられます。WNV感染に引き続き、重症の神経症状をきたすリスクが最も高いのは、50歳以上の人です。リスクの高い地域へ旅行する場合には、蚊に刺されないように注意しなければなりません。ヒトWNV感染を防ぐワクチンはありません。WNVが流行している地域から戻ってきた旅行者が、この疾患に特徴的な発熱と症状を呈する場合、診察した医師はWNV感染の可能性について注意を向けるべきです。臨床情報及び旅行関連情報記録を準備しご連絡ください。
